Sweden (Blocket/Byt Bil)

  • Blocket awarded as one of Sweden’s best workplaces (Great Place to Work).

Blocket is now Sweden’s biggest marketplace for buying and selling items and Sweden’s third-largest website, with around 4.5 million unique visitors each week.  Byt Bil is aimed solely at car dealers.

In the summer of 2010, Blocket E-commerce was launched - a new Blocket area where Swedes can search for and buy new products online. 

During the year, Blocket developed better search functions for cars, introduced a completely new design, made efforts to make its website faster, started to collaborate with, and developed an exclusive solution for, IKEA,  improved its mobile phone website and iPhone app, unveiled Android and iPad apps and launched Blocket E-commerce.

Blocket launches a new advertising package, “the motor package”, together with BytBil in Q1 2011.

Blocket E-commerce is being further developed to include new functions and new categories such as clothes, bags and accessories.

Bytbil.com was established in 1997 and has since built up and developed its business concept:

  • To provide a fast and effective marketplace for the motor industry.
  • To develop and manage web-based systems for the motor industry.

Bytbil.com has been active on the internet since 1997 and has since built up and developed its business concept:

On Bytbil.com passenger vehicles, transport vehicles, caravans, mobile homes and motorcycles from approximately 2,250 sales outlets are presented. All of Byt Bil’s services are web-based and are provided as an ASP (application service provider). Operation, support and training are included in all the services. In addition to web production, all services are charged in subscription form. Byt Bil also sells advertising solutions.

The car market recovered again in 2010. Byt Bil could therefore continue to create a positive trend in the number of customers, revenues and profits.

  • To further strengthen its position as the simplest, safest and most efficient online marketplace in Sweden.
  • To develop products and sales within specific advertising categories.
  • To develop an in-house world-class sales organisation for sales to large customers.
  • To further develop Blocket E-commerce to include new categories and increase the public awareness of and traffic to the website.
  • To continue to develop Blocket for mobile units.
