Lena K. Samuelsson joins Schibsted’s Group Management Team

Lena K. Samuelsson joins Schibsted’s Group Management Team as Executive Vice President Communications & CSR. Consequently, she will step down as Editor-in-Chief at Svenska Dagbladet (SvD), a position she has held for the last 12 years.

Lena K. Samuelsson has broad background and experience from both SvD and Aftonbladet. She is part of Schibsted Sverige’s group management team. In Schibsted Media Group she will be responsible for areas such as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), communications and corporate culture. She will also join the Board of Directors both in Schibsted Norge and 20 Minutos (Spain).

“I am very pleased that Lena is joining the Group Management Team. She has broad experience and has demonstrated a thorough commitment to Schibsted. She is very good at building strong organizational cultures and teams. Lena will strengthen the Group Management Team in many important areas,” says CEO Rolv Erik Ryssdal.

“Lena has done an outstanding job as Editor-in-Chief at SvD. Under her leadership, the newspaper has been awarded ‘Newspaper of the Year’ twice in Sweden,” Ryssdal adds.

Lena K. Samuelsson looks forward to take on her new responsibilities.

Fredric Karén new Editor-in-Chief

Fredric Karén has been appointed Lena K. Samuelsson’s successor as Editor-in-Chief at SvD. He comes from the position as head of SvD Digital. Fredric Karén is 45 years old, and has been at SvD since 2002. During this time he has had responsibility both for the news section and for SvD.se.

“I have followed and been impressed with Fredric’s career and development for many years. His editorial experience is truly valuable, as well as his broad background in leadership and publishing. His competence regarding quality journalism on digital platforms makes him well equipped to take on the big challenges that the media business is facing,” says Raoul Grunthal, chairman of the Board at SvD.

Fredric Karén assumes his new position on 7 September 2013.
