Aftonbladet gets broadcasting rights for TV

Sweden’s radio and TV authorities have decided that Aftonbladet will get broadcasting rights for terrestrial television in the period 2014 – 2020.

“It is a welcome decision that opens up exciting possibilities for the future development of Aftonbladet. Aftonbladet TV is a successful online investment and we look at the linear distribution as a complement,” said Publisher Jan Helin in Aftonbladet.

Aftonbladet is Sweden’s leading source of news and reaches more than three million readers every day. The media house’s successful online TV initiative, which includes a number of unique program formats and live programs covering the latest in news, sports and entertainment, has been a decisive factor in getting the broadcasting rights.

Aftonbladet TV was awarded Innovator of the Year in the Swedish media by the MEG Awards in March.
