The exception is Finn.no (a part of Media Norge) and Soov.es (a part of Eesti Media).
Through the establishment of SCM, Schibsted wishes to facilitate synergies, the development of expertise and sharing of expertise across markets and borders in a manner that supports a strong growth strategy for our classified ad operations. This strategy shall be supported by organic growth, proactive acquisitions and new launches in growing markets.
SCM is currently the biggest in Europe with respect to online classified advertising with activities in Sweden, Spain, France, Belgium, Italy, Austria, Slovenia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil and Colombia. Turnover and EBITDA are EUR 123 million and EUR 32 million respectively as of 30 June 2008 and operations have more than 1,500 employees.
The complete portfolio consists of operations in mature markets such as Sweden, Belgium, Spain and France, and of operations in growth markets such as Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America.
At the basis of SCM’s development is a condition of taking market-leader position in the markets we operate and in new potential focus areas. This is currently the case for our operations in Sweden (Blocket/BytBil), Belgium (Kapaza), Spain (Infojobs, Coches, Fotocasa og Segundamano), France (Leboncoin/La Centrale), Italy (Infojobs, Subito), Slovenia (Bohla) and Lithuania (Autoplius). The collective knowledge and expertise behind these positions shall be used to develop the entire portfolio and to establish corresponding positions in more markets.
