The Aftonbladet media house includes the Nordic region’s largest newspaper and the Nordic region’s largest provider of news online, aftonbladet.se. In addition, Aftonbladet provides several other websites, like sesam.se, prisjakt.nu and destination.se.
In total, Aftonbladet and aftonbladet.se reach around 3.9 million readers weekly and are thus a dominant player – not only in Sweden but throughout the Nordic region.
Aftonbladet’s circulation has exceeded that of its main competitor, Expressen, since October 1996.
Aftonbladet Nya Medier (New Media)
Aftonbladet Nya Medier carries out development work on editorial products within new media, focusing on the Internett. Aftonbladet has always been at the forefront of media developments, and the website Aftonbladet.se was Sweden’s first online newspaper. Aftonbladet.se has had huge success with its viktklubb.se, a weight loss site which currently has around 170 000 paying members. Aftonbladet also owns 40 percent of E24.se, together with SvD who owns 60 percent.
Aftonbladet Tillväxtmedier ("growth media")
Aftonbladet's advertising-driven products are gathered in a subsidiary called Aftonbladet Tillväxtmedier ("growth media"). Here sorts the directory services Hitta.se and Teleadresse.se. In addition comes ownership in price comparison service Prisjakt.nu, online job ads company Jobb24.se, search service Sesam.se, production of live pictures through Rörlig Bild Sverige AB, the TV-overview service TV.nu and the travelsite Destination.se.
Aftonbladet has succeeded well in becoming a broad media house, not only in the fields of traditional and online newspapers, but also with news services for teletext, radio, web-tv and mobile phones.
