The SvD media house

Svenska Dagbladet (SvD) has a strong position in the Swedish market as one of the country’s foremost quality newspapers, publishing in several channels.

Svenska Dagbladet has undergone an extensive turnaround operation. Its continued focus on quality journalism and its conversion to a tabloid format have helped it to achieve a unique platform in the Swedish market. Its position has been considerably strengthened, particularly among young, well-educated city dwellers.

A modern multimedia house

Svenska Dagbladet is Stockholm’s second largest morning newspaper and was voted Sweden’s Daily Newspaper of the Year in 2005. Over the past few years, its circulation has increased dramatically over the past three years. Svenska Dagbladet converted from broadsheet to tabloid format early on, and the way in which it carried out this process made it a model for many other Nordic newspapers. Svenska Dagbladet has a daily readership of 500 000.

”It’s not without reason that newspaper managers from all around the world now come to Stockholm to learn from Svenska Dagbladet. Over the past few years, this newspaper’s management and employees have set the standard for how to convert a traditional newspaper and organisation into a modern multimedia house,” says Schibsted executive vice president Gunnar Strömblad.

SvD.se

SvD.se is Sweden’s most rapidly growing news site. It was started in 1995 with the stated goal of becoming Sweden’s foremost news site. This goal has entailed rapid growth and the website has 400,000 unique users each week. SvD.se was awarded Mediasite of the Year 2007.

E24 Näringsliv

E24 Näringsliv – the complete online business newspaper – was launched in October 2005. It complements the news picture and lists stock exchange prices, together with rapid comments and analyses. E24 immediately became Sweden’s second-largest business news site and it aims to become the leader in its field. It was awarded Daily Newspaper of the Year within New Media 2006.

Tasteline.com

Tasteline.com is Sweden’s foremost food and beverages website, with 195,000 unique weekly users. Tasteline has a database containing 6,000 free recipes and around a hundred articles on food, beverages, parties and health issues.

One reason for this media house’s great success is Svenska Dagbladet’s continuous development of both its printed and online products. Its strategy of focusing on quality journalism, rapid news work and interactive services will further reinforce this position.

The SvD media house’s primary target group is inquisitive, well-educated and urban people. These can be reached via the printed newspaper and on the Internet via SvD.se, E24.se and Tasteline.se. SvD is expanding in all these channels.
