Schibsted sponsors Web Rebels

Schibsted has a big need for great JavaScript developers and no arena is better to find them than where they go to meet like-minded people.

Web Rebels is a JavaScript conference for developers who love building applications and services using web technology. It’s a non-profit organisation that depends on volunteers. The conference kicks off in Oslo today, 2 June.

Schibsted wants to be the new IT giant in Europe. To reach that goal we need the best people around.

“That’s why it’s so important to sponsor conferences and other events to showcase ourselves. We have a big need for great JavaScript developers and no arena is better to find them than where they go to meet likeminded people and learn from each other,” says Software Engineer in Schibsted Media Group, Linn Hege M Bade.

“SPT, Finn and VG are all contributing, and this is as far as we know the first time the Schibsted companies are working together on a stand. This marks a change in our mindset and a great example of us working together to achieve our common goals.”

Schibsted will have a lounge area and a game made in JavaScript by Håvard Kindem in Team Tracking and Ana Vizcarrondo in SMP. They even have a Capture the Flag challenge provided by Espen Volden in SMP and VG. The goal with the challenge is capturing potential new hires when people complete the challenge.

“We hope to build awareness around the Schibsted brand and recruit great people.”
