We believe that online classifieds is a network business, meaning that establishing leading positions creates superior value for users. Hence, our focus is to grow our sites into number one-positions. We have achieved this in 20 of our markets.
Based on strong generalist positions we see that it is possible to develop services also in the verticals, like cars, real estate and jobs. Strengthened positions and market consolidation will help us succeed in reaching our medium to long-term goal of 15-20 percent annual revenue growth for online classifieds. Continued organic investments, targeted acquisitions and partnerships are important tools to achieve this. As a global company, we are eager to utilize our scale by sharing competence and resources across geographies and business areas.
Schibsted Media Group’s heritage lies in the media houses. Independent and high-quality journalism represent the bread and butter of these organizations. Schibsted’s media houses enjoy leading positions with household brands both in Norway and Sweden. For more than 15 years, they have been at the forefront in developing innovative digital products. Now, development is moving rapidly towards mobile, live images as well as targeted advertising and editorial content. Schibsted intends to remain at the forefront of development going forward. Our goal is to build world-class digital media houses.
Over the recent years, Schibsted has developed a range of fast growing services closely linked to the online media. This Schibsted Growth organization has established market leading positions within personal finance, price comparison and other areas in Norway and Sweden. These form important building blocks in our eco systems strategy.
